GAIHS Generative AI and Human Skills

Human skills in the Gen AI Environment

IFIP TC3 WG3.4 is formulating a global research project on investigating the interaction and impact of Generative AI on human skills.

The advances in AI have led to influx of novel processes and practices in different industries. This means a potential shift, and, in some instance, severe changes in human skills and knowledge requirements. Moreover, Gen AI is impacting skills and knowledge acquisition. Therefore, the aim of the GAIHS Project is to investigate

  • the impact of generative AI on skills and knowledge acquisition
  • Industry human resources requirements in the Gen AI era
  • Relationship between generative AI and human skills

One of the primary goals of the project is to obtain data from major regions of the world and include countries that represent different cultures, economic statues, religious beliefs and political systems. GAIHS project focuses on the vocational and higher education perspective.

The GAIHS Project objectives include:

  1. Community - create a global collaborative working relationship focused on Generative AI and human skills.
  2. Publications on Generative AI and human skills.
  3. Research and information hub build a research-based information hub that would aid different stakeholders interested on Generative AI and human skills.
  4. Training and skills develop training material on required competences in Generative AI environment.

The GAIHS Project is hosting two symposiums at the Open Conference on Computers in Education (OCCE 2025):

  1. AI and the Future of Professions: Bridging Industry Demands and Human-Centred Curriculum Design
  2. Reimagining the Learning Environment: Pedagogy, Assessment, and Human Dignity in the AI Era
